Inexpensive disposable batteries which do, however, produce progressively lower voltages as they discharge, and it can be hard to predict when the camera will stop working. Life expectancy can vary from brand to brand. Much of the capacity is wasted because there’s often plenty of power left. All that’s happened is that the battery’s output voltage has dropped below the camera’s operating threshold.
