Specialist flash unit for close-up photography and used where the subject is too close to the camera lens for an ordinary flash to work (the lens would obscure the flash). With a ring flash, the flash tube runs in a circle around the outside of the lens and provides an even shadow-less light that’s perfect for this kind of photography.
